The release date for the much-anticipated sequel, Awarapan 2, has been set for August 14, 2026. This film is a follow-up to one of the most cherished cult classics in Hindi cinema.

On Tuesday, actor Emraan Hashmi shared the news on his Instagram Stories, marking a significant reunion with filmmaker and producer Vishesh Bhatt.

Vishesh Bhatt expressed his thoughts on the sequel, stating, “Awarapan 2 embodies a profound emotion that deserves to be showcased on the big screen. It features stunning locations and grand sequences, yet it remains rooted in our commitment to intricate storytelling, strong characters, and beautiful music.”

He added, “Emraan connected with Shivam's struggles so intensely that he instantly transformed into the character. With Disha Patani joining the cast, the film's universe has expanded to exciting new horizons.”

Disha Patani, making her debut with Vishesh Films, adds a fresh perspective to the Awarapan narrative, alongside her notable works in Baaghi 2, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, and Kalki 2898 AD.

The film is helmed by director Nitin Kakkar, with the screenplay crafted by Bilal Siddiqui and produced by Vishesh Bhatt. Currently, the production is nearing completion in Mumbai, with a worldwide release planned for August 14, 2026.

Over the years, the original Awarapan has achieved cult status, celebrated for its emotional resonance and haunting soundtrack. Initially, it did not perform well at the box office but gained popularity through television broadcasts and streaming services. Its themes of redemption and Emraan Hashmi's poignant performance have struck a chord with audiences.

Timeless tracks like ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ and ‘Toh Phir Aao’ have become classics. What distinguishes Awarapan is its authenticity; it does not seek mass appeal but instead cultivates a dedicated fanbase connected by the deep emotional threads woven throughout the film.
