New Delhi: Former cricketer and TMC MP Yusuf Pathan’s father-in-law, brother-in-law and a relative have been arrested on charges of assault in Byculla, Mumbai. Mumbai Police took this action on the basis of video footage of a CCTV. After the arrest, the police have started further investigation.

According to media reports, the matter occurred on Saturday (April 18, 2026) at around 9 pm. Yusuf Khan, a local resident, was returning home when his car went into a pothole on the road. The water jumped and fell on Shoaib Khan standing there, who is a relative of Yusuf Pathan.

Yusuf Khan says that he immediately stopped the car and apologized, but the matter escalated. It is alleged that Shoaib abused, broke the glass of the car with a bamboo stick and started fighting. After this, on the advice of the family, Yusuf Khan went to complain to the police.

During this time, on the way he met Yusuf Pathan’s father-in-law Khalid Khan alias Makalik. According to the police, Khalid, along with his sons Umarshad Khan, Shoaib Khan and Shahbaz Pathan, again attacked Yusuf Khan and his family. This time bamboo sticks and baseball bats were used.

Yusuf Khan’s bones broken in fight 

In fact, in this fight, the victim Yusuf Khan’s brother-in-law Salman’s hand was broken and uncle Zaki Ahmed suffered serious injuries. Police arrested Khalid, Omarshad and Shoaib, while Shahbaz Pathan is still absconding. A case of assault and causing serious injury has been registered against all three. The court has sent the accused to judicial custody till May 2.

Police took major action 

Regarding this entire incident, the police said that the identity of the accused has become clear from the CCTV footage and statements of eyewitnesses. The weapons seized included bamboo sticks and a baseball bat. The prosecution has opposed bail. Argued that custody is necessary to catch the absconding accused, to search criminal records and to prevent tampering with evidence.

Defense lawyer Dayanand Dere said that it was a minor argument in which both the parties were involved. The police have presented a one-sided story. He also said that Khalid Khan is a senior citizen and has been implicated. Police have also registered an FIR against Yusuf Khan on the counter complaint. Yusuf Khan alleges that he was attacked twice, first on the spot and then while going to complain. Now this case has reached the court.
