PHE employee took bribe to pass contractor’s bill, Lokayukta police caught red handed

Jabalpur Lokayukta Police team, while taking action in Chhindwara today, caught the pump attendant of PHE red handed while taking bribe from the contractor. During interrogation, the employee told that he had taken the bribe amount at the behest of the clerk, Lokayukta Police has made charges against both of them and taken the matter under investigation.

According to the information received from Jabalpur Lokayukta Superintendent of Police office, Saurabh Mishra, resident of village Ambada of Parasia tehsil of Chhindwara district, had given a complaint application in which he had accused the employees of Office Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Block Parasia of demanding bribe.

Saurabh Mishra told that he is a contractor and works in PHE, he has taken the contract for construction work in Chhindwara, he had completed 30 percent of the total work, after which Rs 4,11,665 has been received in his account, for the release of which the clerk posted here, Sandesh Gajbhiye, is demanding a bribe of Rs 25 thousand at the rate of 6 percent.

PHE employee caught taking bribe of Rs 14000

After receiving the complaint, its authenticity was checked. During verification, clerk Sandesh Gajbhiye asked contractor Saurabh Mishra to talk to pump attendant Darpan Mishra. After meeting Darpan Mishra, the transaction of Rs 14,000 was finalized. Darpan Mishra and Sandesh Gajbhiye agreed to take a bribe of Rs 14,000.

Pump attendant caught as soon as he took bribe

After knowing the truth of the bribe demand, on the instructions of Lokayukta SP, today the trap team caught Darpan Mishra red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 14000 from the applicant. Action is being taken against the accused under Section 7,12,13(1)B, 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (Amendment) 2018. Lokayukta has also made clerk Sandesh Gajbhiye an accused.
