GB News presenter Patrick Christys said it's 'game over' for Keir Starmer when Sir Oliver Robbins gave evidence about the process to the Foreign Affairs Select Committee amid Pete Mandelson's vetting row.

The former top official at the Foreign Office mentioned that there was a "generally dismissive" attitude to his vetting clearance. He added: "I feel that throughout January, my office, the Foreign Secretary Office were under constant pressure. There was an atmosphere of constant chasing." But he confirmed that the team completed vetting in the "normal high standard".

The presenter also criticised the prime minister for repeatedly telling the public that he "regretted making the decision" of appointing Mandelson.

Sir Robbins continued: "Despite this atmosphere of pressure, the department completed DV to the normal high standard. A position taken from the Cabinet Office was that there was no need to vet Mandelson.

"He was a member of the House of Lords, he was a privy councillor, the risks attending his appointment were well known, and had been made clear to the prime minister before appointment."

There was "never any interest, as far as I can recall, in whether, but only an interest in when," he added.

The GB News presenter then commented: "So you got the deceit, which is pretty bad isn't it? All to secure a cushy job for may of the paedophile, and that is bad enough. But actually the national security issue, is the real killer here."

Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP mentioned that Keir Starmer was made to understand that before they [the Foreign Office] had completed the clearance, that Mandelson had already strapped clearance, which gives him access to the most secure and the most dangerous information held by the government.

The presenter believed that the decision ultimately "comes back to the prime minister", calling it the "hammer blow".

The Foreign Office chief was sacked last week for the "unforgivable" crime of overruling the advice of the security services to hand Mandelson his clearance.
