Crime drama enthusiasts will be searching for their next binge-worthy fix following the conclusion of ITV's Grace on Sunday night.

The much-loved crime series reached the end of its sixth run with an explosive cliffhanger, as DS Roy Grace's (John Simm) wedding day to Cleo (Zoe Tapper) fell far short of the fairytale ending the pair had hoped for, with his new bride taken hostage.

The episode drew to a close with a helpless Grace asking gang leader Albazi over the phone, having just witnessed his new wife gagged and screaming in her wedding dress, "What do you want?"

On Tuesday, ITV confirmed that John, 55, will reprise his iconic role for a brand new series alongside co-stars Richie Campbell and Zoë Tapper.

However, while devoted fans eagerly await series seven, there is another 'brilliant' detective drama well worth watching in the interim.

Filmed and set on the island of Jersey, the hugely popular series Bergerac - which boasts an impressive 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes - returned for its second series just last week.

The show is a reboot of the classic Jersey-based crime drama, following troubled detective Jim Bergerac, portrayed by Brassic star Damien Molony. Bergerac is a gifted detective battling life as a recovering alcoholic and widower.

The original Bergerac television series aired during the 1980s, starring John Nettles as the fictional detective Jim Bergerac, before being revived in 2025 with Damien, 42, stepping into the lead role. Bergerac series two will see the detective begin dating once more following his wife's death and tackle a wedding murder mystery, where the groom is discovered dead in his hotel room.

Alongside Damien, Bergerac features My Family legend Zoë Wanamaker as Bergerac's mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford, Robert Gilbert as Barney Crozier and Wild Cherry star Chloé Sweetlove as his daughter Kim Bergerac.

Meanwhile, viewers can look forward to fresh faces in series two as Adrian Edmondson joins as Nigel, a charming new presence in Charlie's life. Elsewhere, Lesley Sharp will portray Monica, mother to Michael played by Turlough Convery and Nicola played by Camilla Beeput.

The opening series received glowing reviews, including a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

At the time of series one, one person said: "Loved it. Bergerac is a great character and the actors are all well rounded. Haven't seen the original but judged on its own it's a fantastic free to air crime drama."

A different account put: "I loved the performances of all the major actors. It is nice to see Damien Molony in a lead role. He does a brilliant job" while another viewer admitted they were "glued to the box" while watching the series.

Elsewhere, another show watcher praised: "It's good to see Damien Maloney in a lead role. I enjoyed the series - better than the original series." while another fan added: "Absolutely loved this new series of Bergerac."

Bergerac is available to stream for free on U, and via U on Channel 4, with series one available to binge now.
