Victor Wembanyama writes another chapter in NBA history. The San Antonio Spurs star has won his first Defensive Player of the Year becoming the first unanimous winner in the history of the award.

The most striking detail, however, is in the voting: the Frenchman received every available first-place vote a result never achieved before in the history of the award, which was established in 1983.
Behind him in the race were Chet Holmgren and Ausar Thompson but neither ever truly challenged the dominance of the Spurs big man, who was a constant force on that end of the floor.
At just 22 years old, Wembanyama also becomes the youngest DPOY ever adding another milestone to a rapid rise that has already placed him among the league’s elite players.
