In Patna, a deeply troubling incident has shaken the community, revealing a painful story that sends chills down the spine. This narrative centers around a 36-year-old widow who has been shouldering the responsibility of raising her three young children alone after the death of her husband.

However, the poison introduced by both relatives and strangers in her life is shocking and distressing.

Following her husband's passing in 2023, the woman hoped her family would support her. Instead, her own brother-in-law descended into depravity. Under the cover of night, he attempted to inappropriately touch her. When she resisted, the matter was brushed aside. Family members dismissed it as a joke, claiming, 'Such things happen between brothers and sisters-in-law.'

On August 1, she filed a police report, but law enforcement remained silent. This silence only emboldened the perpetrator, who continued to violate her dignity repeatedly. The victim chose to remain silent for the sake of her children's upbringing and her own honor.

The situation escalated when even her innocent 7-year-old daughter became a target. A tenant took inappropriate pictures of the child. On that day, the mother was at the hospital while her daughter was at home. The little girl, trembling with fear, revealed, 'The uncle threatened me, saying he would kill me if I told anyone.'

Hearing about the assault on her daughter shattered the mother. She expressed, 'It is impossible to swallow this blood. My daughter's honor is at stake.' Yet, the fear of her daughter's reputation prevents her from filing a formal complaint.

Rashmi Rekha Sinha, a member of the women's commission, has deemed the situation serious, stating that the victim has lodged a complaint at the women's police station. A letter has also been sent to the District Magistrate. However, police action remains stagnant, with the next hearing scheduled for October 20.
