The atmosphere became sombre in the hearing of Meerut's sensational 'Blue Drum' murder case when the mother of victim Saurabh Rajput cried bitterly inside the court. He demanded death sentence for his wife Muskaan and her alleged lover Sahil, accused of murdering their son. The case that shocked the nation last year is once again in the headlines as both the accused appeared in the Meerut district court for a fresh hearing. Saurabh's family was also present, leading to a harrowing encounter with the victim's mother with her daughter-in-law, who is accused of conspiring to brutally murder her son.

People told the judge - hang Muskaan and Sahil

• According to reports, as soon as Muskaan and Sahil entered the courtroom, Saurabh's mother Renu Devi could not control her tears and started crying, pleading for justice. She repeated again and again, "The murderers should be hanged."
• Renu Devi also alleged that perhaps more people knew about the crime, who were ignored by the investigating agencies. He believes that Muskaan's family knew everything, but they escaped investigation. The mother's pain spilled over even outside the court. Crying in front of reporters, she said, "He (Saurabh) used to give them Rs 50,000 every month. Yet they killed my son."

This murder case came into limelight across the country when the police said that former Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput was murdered by his wife Muskaan and Sahil in a rented house. Investigators said Saurabh was first drugged, then murdered and his body was cut into pieces. The body was then sealed in a blue plastic drum filled with cement to conceal the crime. Earlier reports had said that the police had to drill through the hardened cement to extract the body.

• During the appearance of the accused in the court, a huge crowd had gathered and security was tightened. It is being told that Muskaan had reached the court with a small girl in her lap, due to which the atmosphere became even more emotional.
• During the hearing, the judge questioned both the accused about the allegations against them. Sahil sought permission to present witnesses in his defence, while Muskaan denied the allegations against him. The prosecution is strengthening its case on the basis of forensic evidence, statements of witnesses and earlier confessions of the accused. Due to the magnitude of this case, it has become one of the most talked about criminal cases of Uttar Pradesh.
