The attack took place in Erbil province and came just hours after Donald Trump announced a unilateral extension of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Five Injured in Drone Strike
PAK initially reported that three people were wounded in the strike. However, senior party member Adib Khaldiyan later confirmed that the number of injured had risen to five.
In a statement, the group accused Iran of continuing its attacks despite the ceasefire, saying the strike reflects a pattern of escalation.
Ceasefire Extension Fails to Halt Attacks
The ceasefire, first announced on April 8 after nearly 40 days of conflict, was extended following a request from Pakistan. According to Trump, the extension is intended to give Tehran more time to present a “unified proposal” for a potential agreement.
Despite this, attacks have continued in the Kurdistan Region. PAK stated that the area remains a primary target even during the truce period.
Kurdistan Region Faces Continued Strikes
Masrour Barzani said that Iran and allied groups have carried out repeated attacks in the region, resulting in casualties. According to available data, the Kurdistan Region has faced more than 700 attacks during the conflict, with over a dozen people killed and at least 90 injured.
PAK officials also placed responsibility on the United States for failing to prevent continued strikes during the ceasefire.
