Gold-Silver Price Today 22 April 2026: A sharp rise in the prices of gold and silver was recorded in the Indian bullion market today. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold rose by more than ₹ 2,000, or about 1.3%, to ₹ 1,53,699 per 10 grams. An even sharper rise was seen in the prices of silver, which jumped by ₹ 4,700 i.e. about 2% to ₹ 2,49,423 per kg.

A rise in gold prices was also seen in the international market. Spot gold rose 0.8% to cross $ 4,755 an ounce. It had recorded a decline of more than 2% in the previous session, after which this recovery has come. According to experts, currently the level of ₹ 1,52,800 to ₹ 1,51,500 is seen as support for MCX Gold, while resistance remains between ₹ 1,54,850 to ₹ 1,55,500.

Ceasefire beneficial for gold and silver

Today, many global and economic reasons are believed to be behind the rise in gold and silver prices. The biggest reason is the ongoing tension between America and Iran. US President Donald Trump has announced to extend the ceasefire with Iran, but the Strait of Hormuz is still not completely normal. This waterway handles about 20% of the global oil supply, so continued tension there creates uncertainty in the market, due to which investors turn to safe investment i.e. gold.

Apart from this, crude oil prices also remain high and are trading around $100 per barrel. Due to this, there is a possibility of increase in global inflation, which supports the price of gold. Slight weakness in the dollar index is also an important reason for the rise in gold prices. The dollar declined by 0.1%, making gold cheaper against other currencies and increasing demand for it.

Interest rate cuts are not in a hurry

At the same time, the statement of Kevin Wersh, the possible new Chairman of the US Federal Reserve (FED), has also influenced the direction of the market. He stressed on controlling inflation and indicated that interest rate cuts would not be done in a hurry. Due to this there is uncertainty in the market.
