Friends, assembly elections are going to start in West Bengal in just a few moments, but before that the atmosphere in the entire state has become very heated. Bharatiya Janata Party President and the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement of removing CM Mamata in a rally has created a controversy, on which Abhishek Banerjee has got enraged.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a massive road show in support of BJP candidate Roopa Ganguly in Sonarpur South assembly constituency of South 24 Parganas. Shah launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that now the time has come for political change in the state.

He alleged that “goonda raj” and “syndicate raj” are prevalent in Bengal, and assured that these problems would be eliminated if BJP comes to power.

TMC’s counterattack

Giving a sharp reply to this, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee accused Amit Shah of insulting Mamata Banerjee. He criticized Shah’s use of the phrase “Ei Didi”, calling it indicative of the BJP’s mentality towards women. Abhishek further claimed that like the previous elections, BJP will have to face defeat this time too and may not even be able to cross the 50 seats mark.

Elections for all 294 assembly seats in West Bengal are being held in two phases—on April 23 and April 29—and the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
