Rajnath Singh visits German shipbuilding company, steps taken to strengthen defense cooperation

New Delhi. Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited the shipyard of Germany’s leading shipbuilding company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. During this, he boarded the state-of-the-art Type 212 submarine and got information about its capabilities, which was presented in detail by the company officials. The Defense Minister is on a three-day official visit to Germany from 21 to 23 April. During this visit, important steps were taken towards further strengthening defense cooperation between India and Germany.

The two countries signed and exchanged an implementation agreement for cooperation in Defense Industrial Cooperation Roadmap and United Nations Peacekeeping Training. These agreements were made in the presence of Rajnath Singh and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. This will strengthen institutional cooperation between the two countries and open new opportunities for joint training, capacity building and technological development in the defense sector. Earlier, the two leaders held bilateral talks in Berlin, in which various aspects of defense cooperation and topics like co-development and co-production of defense equipment were discussed. Particular focus was placed on advanced and specialized technologies. During the meeting, both the countries reiterated their commitment to further enhance cooperation at the military level. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh described his visit as a symbol of deep friendship, coordination and trust and said that there has been significant progress in India-Germany defense cooperation in recent years. This visit is being considered an important step towards giving new heights to the strategic relations between the two countries.
