On Thursday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the critical importance of the India-Africa partnership in the face of global geopolitical challenges, asserting that it conveys a message of "stability" and reliability in a tumultuous world. Speaking at the unveiling of the logo, theme, and website for the upcoming India-Africa Forum Summit-IV (IAFS-IV), Jaishankar highlighted that both regions are not just development partners but also collaborators in creating a better world. His remarks came at a time when the international community is grappling with multiple conflicts, particularly the ongoing crisis in West Asia, which has persisted for over 50 days and continues to have far-reaching global implications.

The event saw participation from ambassadors and diplomats across the African continent, during which the official logo was revealed. The logo features a lion overlaid on interconnected maps of India and Africa, symbolizing the theme of 'Enduring Partnership, Shared Vision' and marking the summit dates from January 28 to 31. Jaishankar described the upcoming summit as a unique opportunity to deepen engagement and establish a framework for a partnership that is more ambitious, inclusive, and future-oriented. He underscored the significance of this alliance, stating that as the world faces complex geopolitical and geo-economic challenges, this cooperation will emerge as a beacon of stability, reliability, and unity in uncertain times.

The minister further elaborated that Africa holds a central position in India's foreign policy today. This engagement is guided by principles of equality, mutual respect, and collective progress. India has significantly strengthened its diplomatic presence on the continent, recently opening 17 new missions, bringing the total to 46. Jaishankar noted that this expansion represents the next chapter of a long-term partnership driven by the framework of the India-Africa Forum Summit. Highlighting the historical ties, the External Affairs Minister stated that this relationship is rooted in our civilizational links and has been shaped by centuries of cultural and humanitarian exchanges. He added that these bonds were further solidified when India stood in solidarity with African nations in their struggle against colonialism.

Drawing parallels between the independence movements of both regions, Jaishankar remarked that the shared history of struggle, solidarity, resilience, and aspirations continues to shape our partnership. He mentioned that India's 'Vision for Developed India 2047' and Africa's Agenda 2063 serve as complementary roadmaps aimed at achieving prosperity through sustainable and inclusive development. The minister also highlighted India's ongoing advocacy for Africa to secure its rightful place in global governance, referencing the inclusion of the African Union in the G20 during India's 2023 presidency as a significant step in this direction. According to Jaishankar, this move reflects a firm belief that the voices of the Global South should shape global governance in the future.
