Bhujia King Shivratan Agarwal Passes Away : Shiv Ratan Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Bikaji Group, passed away in Chennai on Thursday (April 23, 2026) morning. Lived there with family for wife’s treatment. After his condition suddenly deteriorated in the morning, he was rushed to a private hospital, but died during treatment. According to family members, his wife had recently undergone a heart bypass surgery and the doctor had advised her to rest. So he was living in Chennai for the last 10 days. He started feeling unwell around 7:30 on Thursday morning, after which his condition rapidly deteriorated.

A journey from a small business to a global brand

Bikaji Foods International was founded in 1993 in Bikaner by Shivartan Agarwal. However, his professional journey had already begun. After parting ways with the traditional family business, Haldirams, he chose his own path and started manufacturing bhujia in Bikaner under the name Shivdeep Foods Products. He had the vision to give Indian flavors a new identity. With this vision, he named his brand ‘Bikaji’, inspired by Rao Bika, the founder of the city of Bikaner.

Limited education, but great vision

Sivaratan Agarwal, who studied only up to class VIII, laid the foundations of a major brand through his creative vision and hard work. While starting his business, he visited many countries and learned about the technology there. At that time Bhujia was made entirely by hand, but he developed a new system for production using machines. Bikaji became the first brand in the country to introduce machine-based bhujia production. This increased production and improved quality.

Today, Bikaji has established its strong position not only in India but also in the international market. The company pays special attention to the quality, packaging and global standards of its products. The death of Shivartan Agarwal is a big loss for the snack industry. He not only built a successful business, but also played an important role in bringing Indian flavors to the world.
