New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested two people who were working for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, as well as for Pakistani gangsters, from Noida. The two terror suspects, identified as Tushar Chauhan, alias Hizbullah Khan and Sameer Khan, were arrested by the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday.

The initial investigation has revealed that the terror suspects, both aged 20 years old, were planning to execute terrorist activities within India, to pose a threat to the country’s internal security, officials said. Chauhan is a resident of Baghpat, and Sameer Khan resides in Seemapuri, Old Delhi.

They were allegedly hatching a plan to target India’s economically sensitive locations, specifically shopping malls and industrial areas. The duo was also planning to attack several high-profile individuals by establishing a sleeper cell and radicalising Indian youths. They had also issued death threats to several people over the past few months.

According to police, the duo was in touch with Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti via social media. Shahzad Bhatti had created an account on Instagram under the name “Shahzad Bhattee.”

They were offered an upfront cash payment of Rs 50,000, along with the promise of an additional Rs 2,50,000 upon the successful completion of the task. Shahzad Bhatti’s associates—specifically his managers, Kumbhakar and Anwar, were tasked with providing weapons to them.

The ATS recovered a pistol, five live cartridges, and a knife from their possession. A case has been filed in the ATS police station in Lucknow under the relevant provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
