New Delhi. US President Donald Trump is once again in the headlines for his controversial statement. In a scathing and controversial letter posted on his social media platform, “Truth Social,” Trump referred to India, China, and other countries as “hellholes.” These comments come at a time when the debate over birthright citizenship has intensified in the US.

In his letter, Trump claimed that California’s tech sector is dominated by people from India and China, limiting opportunities for others. However, he did not provide any concrete evidence to support this claim.

He strongly criticized the policy of birthright citizenship, saying, ‘A child born here immediately becomes a citizen, and then they bring their entire family here from China, India or some other ‘hell’ on the planet.’

Trump argued that the issue of birthright citizenship should not be decided by courts or lawyers, but rather by a national vote. Expressing distrust of judicial institutions, he claimed that a social media poll showed a majority of the public favored banning the policy. Trump believes that the current constitutional interpretation has no bearing on immigration patterns.

The president called the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) a “criminal” organization and suggested they should be prosecuted under RICO laws (which are used against organized crime). He alleged that immigrants were abusing public services like healthcare, burdening tax-paying American citizens.

In his letter, Trump also claimed that large-scale immigration is affecting America’s cultural and linguistic identity. He described “chain migration” as a major threat to the United States. This statement comes at a time when a legal
debate is underway in the US Supreme Court regarding birthright citizenship. Using such language against a strategic partner like India could spark resentment within diplomatic circles.
