New Delhi: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Kailash Hills, southern area of Delhi, which has raised serious questions on the security arrangements of the capital. A 22-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered. In this case, the police have arrested a 23-year-old former domestic worker.
Investigation has revealed that the accused not only entered the house and committed the crime, but also dragged the victim from one floor to another in an unsuccessful attempt to open the biometric locker. This entire incident happened when the girl’s parents were not present at home.
‘Smart key’ used to enter the house
According to the police, accused Rahul Meena entered the house at 6:39 am. He used a ‘smart key’ which the family kept near the shoe rack outside the main door and which was also known to the staff working in the house.
The victim was studying, there was a dispute over asking for money
According to investigators, the accused went straight to the room where the victim was studying. An officer said, "She said he asked for money to repay the loan directly, but she refused and asked him to leave. He argued, after which he started calling his father.
Before she could say anything, he first strangulated her, then strangulated her with the charger wire and then attacked her head with a water bottle and a lamp. She became unconscious."
Dragged to open the locker, then committed the crime
Investigation has also revealed that the accused dragged the victim from the fourth floor to the third floor to open the fingerprint-access locker, but he could not succeed in opening the locker. After this he allegedly raped and then murdered her.
Absconded with cash and jewelery
The accused escaped from the house with around Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh in cash and jewelery worth around Rs 10 lakh. He had changed his blood stained clothes. Police said that he had spent about Rs 7,000 of the stolen amount, while the rest has been recovered.
Brutality revealed in post mortem report
The post-mortem conducted at AIIMS revealed that the girl died due to strangulation. Several serious injuries were found on the body, including scratches, bruises on hands, legs and face and fractures in the nasal bone. An officer said, "The deceased died due to strangulation after the attack."
Samples have been sent for forensic examination to confirm sexual assault.
The accused was already wanted in another case
Police investigation revealed that the accused was a resident of Alwar, Rajasthan and was also wanted in a case of sexual assault on another woman there. He had fled to Delhi after a dispute in the village and carried out this incident as per the complete plan.
Arrest due to technical surveillance
The police traced the accused through technical surveillance and arrested him from a hotel in Dwarka around 8 pm on Wednesday night.
