Kajol has opened up about why she chose to break her long-standing no-kissing policy for her OTT debut in 'The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha'. The actor called it a character-driven, professional decision, one she was deeply unsure about until the very last moment.
Kajol talks about her no-kissing policyKajol has been a leading name in Hindi cinema for three decades, with iconic films like 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', and more. When she made her OTT debut in 2023 with 'The Trial', she not only took on a new platform but also crossed a personal boundary, sharing a kiss with co-star Jisshu Sengupta .
Speaking on Lilly Singh's podcast, when asked about the decision, Kajol explained that the scene was inseparable from her character's journey. In her own words, "It wasn't simply a kiss; it was about what she thought and what she wanted to happen and what didn't happen for her."
The actress added, "What she believed, what she had faith in. What she couldn't have faith in. It was something that was an integral part of the entire screenplay, so I couldn't have cut that out without cutting an integral part of the entire character."
Kajol reveals she was uncomfortable
During the same conversation, Kajol admitted the decision wasn't easy. She told Lilly Singh, "I think I was uncomfortable with it. I was very, very uncomfortable with the idea till I was standing on set... I really think it was simply that; it was simply a professional call where I felt that I can make this call today."
