Jaipur: A series of bomb threats targeted Rajasthan, including the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, the Rajasthan High Court, and the local Sessions Court, which prompted security agencies to be on high alert on Monday.
The threats, delivered via email, triggered immediate evacuations and massive search operations across the state capital’s most sensitive high-security zones.
The incident came to light during the morning hours when official email accounts of the court administrations received messages claiming that explosives had been planted within the buildings.
Shortly thereafter, a similar threat was reported regarding the State Assembly premises.
Evacuations and Search Ops
Following standard operating procedures for terror threats, the Jaipur Police, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and Dog Squads, rushed to the locations.
Hundreds of staff members, advocates, and officials, including the Speaker of the Assembly, were shifted to designated safe zones.
Political Firestorm Erupts
The security lapse has sparked a heated political row in the state. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully were reportedly denied entry to the Assembly premises while the search was underway.
Speaking to the press outside the gates, both leaders slammed the current BJP-led government for the deteriorating law-and-order situation.
Pattern of "Hoax" Threats
Investigators are now focusing on the digital footprint of the emails. This is notably the fourth time in recent months that the Rajasthan High Court has received a bomb threat.
While all previous instances were determined to be hoaxes, the frequency of these incidents has put immense pressure on the Jaipur Cyber Cell.
Preliminary findings suggest that the emails may have been routed through masked IP addresses to evade detection.
