FIFA, the world football governing body, has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico in June-July. The world football body has come under immense scrutiny for the pricing of tickets for the mega-tournament since the sales opened in September 2025.
Now just 50 days to go before one of the biggest sporting spectacles gets underway, FIFA has again attracted attention for astronomical pricing for the final.
As per an agency report, FIFA’s resale site has four tickets on sale for the World Cup final for just under USD 2.3 million each, a price range that could buy a mid-range private island anywhere in the world.
World Cup final tickets: The multi-million dollar resale marketThe USD 2,299,998.85 seats for the finale on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, are located behind a goal in the lower deck in block 124, row 45, seats 33-36.
While FIFA does not control the asking prices on its Resale/exchange site, it takes a 15 per cent purchase fee from the buyer of each ticket and a 15 per cent resale fee from the seller.
Meanwhile, to buy an aisle seat 33 in block 146, row 32 of the lower deck, one has to shell out USD 207,000. A category two seat in the last row of the uppermost third deck will burn a hole worth USD 138,000 in one’s pocket for block 310, row 26, seat 23. Not far away, seat 21 is listed for UDS 23,000.
The lowest-priced tickets for the final on the FIFA resale site were USD 10,923.85 for four seats, which are located four rows from the top of the upper deck behind a goal, in block 323, row 23, seats 13-16.
