The great festival of democracy was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Tamil Nadu on Thursday (23 April 2026). Voting was completed on all 234 assembly seats in the state, but this time the election was not normal. Amidst the rising heat, the political temperature also remained high because in the state Record voting of more than 84 percent were recorded. This is one of the strongest participation in the electoral history of Tamil Nadu in recent years. From cities to villages, long queues of voters at polling booths are proof of how serious the public is about change or stability.
Entry of new stars in the election field and tough competition
The biggest highlight of this election is superstar Vijay’s party. Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) Which has made the contest interesting by contesting on all 234 seats. Vijay’s popularity, especially among the youth, remains a headache for the traditional parties. Whereas, Seeman’s Name Tamilar Katchi (NTK) also once again fielded its candidates on all the seats. Seeman’s politics, based on issues like Tamil nationalism and environment, is attracting youth who are voting for the first time. This time the contest has turned into a multi-cornered war, not just between DMK and AIADMK.
Thalapathy Vijay’s party made serious allegations
Amidst the voting, TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjun created a stir by submitting two separate complaints to the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). The party has made serious allegations of irregularities and mismanagement in the voting process. The first complaint states that there were not enough buses at the bus stands in Tamil Nadu for voters who wanted to go to their native villages to cast their votes. TVK alleges that due to lack of transportation system, thousands of people were deprived of exercising their democratic rights. He has also named some senior officers for this negligence and demanded strict action against them.
Questions were also raised regarding police and EVMs
TVK’s second complaint was regarding law and order and the attitude of the police. The party alleged that some police officers were acting at the behest of the ruling party and obstructing peaceful voting. The complaint said that such an environment could create fear in the minds of voters. Apart from this, the party also cornered the Election Commission regarding technical faults in EVMs. Aadhav Arjun demanded that wherever the machines are damaged, they should be replaced immediately so that there is no delay in voting. He appealed that fair elections are the real strength of democracy.
Record voting and credibility of political giants at stake
By 3 pm itself, the voting percentage had crossed 70 percent, which surprised political pundits. Chief Minister M.K. led by stalin DMK It is hoping to regain power on the basis of its welfare schemes. Whereas, Edappadi K. Palaniswami led AIADMK For him, this election is a fight to save his political credibility. Vijay’s entry into this bastion of Dravidian politics has completely complicated the equations. Now it remains to be seen whether this bumper voting is an anti-incumbency wave or public trust in the present government.
