Hoppers Continues to Impress at the Box Office

Pixar's animated feature, Hoppers, is approaching the end of its seventh week in theaters and has already made a significant impact, breaking numerous box office records. Currently, it stands as the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2026 globally, as reported by Box Office Mojo. However, it is set to face stiff competition from Antoine Fuqua's latest film, Michael, which is anticipated to debut with over $150 million worldwide, potentially pushing Hoppers down the rankings in the near future.

At this point, Hoppers has earned a spot among the top 500 highest-grossing films ever at the global box office. The film debuted with a strong $45.3 million in 4,000 theaters across North America and recently added another $3 million during the weekend of April 17-19, reflecting a 26.8% decrease from the previous weekend. Additionally, it brought in $0.5 million on Monday and Tuesday, raising its total domestic earnings to $161.9 million. With an impressive international revenue of $206 million, its overall earnings have reached $367.9 million.

In its theatrical run, Hoppers has recently surpassed the global earnings of the 2019 DC film, Shazam!, which grossed $367.8 million worldwide. The animated film is now closing in on the earnings of Chris Evans' 2011 Marvel film, Captain America: The First Avenger. Hoppers needs just $2.7 million more to exceed the worldwide total of The First Avenger, adding an exciting twist to its box office saga.

While Hoppers trails by about $14.8 million in North American earnings, the worldwide box office gap is considerably smaller. If the film experiences a 25-30% drop during the weekend of April 24-26, it could potentially earn an additional $2.1 to $2.25 million domestically. Should it manage to close the gap in the upcoming days, Hoppers stands a good chance of surpassing Captain America: The First Avenger during its theatrical run.

Directed by Daniel Chong, Hoppers tells the story of Mabel, an animal enthusiast who employs groundbreaking technology that enables humans to transfer their consciousness into realistic robotic animals. After she hops into a robotic beaver to communicate with wildlife, Mabel discovers a looming threat to their forest habitat and must help the animals safeguard their home.
