Tensions between Prince Harry and the Royal Family have escalated over the years, particularly beginning from the moment that the former working royal decided to step down from royal duties in 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they wanted to work to become financially independent, with a move to the US taking place shortly after.

Harry has made several comments about his wish to reconcile with his family in the past few years, with the palace also hinting that the King is ready to mend tensions with his youngest son. The King last met Harry during the 41-year-old's visit to the UK last September, prior to that meeting the pair had last met just days after the King's cancer diagnosis was made public in February 2024.

In a poll conducted by the Daily Express, which ran between 11.15am on April 21 and 11am on April 24, royal fans were asked if the King should forgive Harry.

Of the 6,017 people who voted, a whopping 90% (5,391 people) shared that the King should not make amends with Harry - whilst nine percent (550 people) voted that the father-and-son should attempt to reconcile.

An additional one percent (76 people) said they were not sure whether the King should forgive his estranged son.

Taking to the comment section, one fan commented: "The choices should be - No, Never or Never Ever. Harry trashed the Royal Family and tried to bring down the Monarchy..."

A second added: "Absolutely not - he and she [Meghan Markle] cannot be trusted any more."

A few months prior to the meeting, Harry shared how he wanted reconciliation in an emotional BBC interview last May.

The royal said during the emotional interview: "There have been so many disagreements, differences between me and some of my family. This current situation that has been ongoing for five years with regards to human life and safety is the sticking point. It is the only thing that's left.

"Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. But I would love reconciliation with my family."
