The journey hasn't been a good one for Mumbai Indians so far. On Thursday, Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai by a massive 103 runs. This is the first time in history that Mumbai has lost by a margin of 100 or more runs. This is Chennai's biggest win in terms of runs. Captain Hardik Pandya was expensive with the ball and then flopped with the bat, getting out for 1 run off his second ball. After the match, he said that we should have batted better in the power play, as they (CSK) also batted on the same pitch.
Chennai Super Kings posted a score of 207, thanks to Sanju Samson's century. Chasing the target, the Mumbai Indians were bundled out for 104. After losing 3 wickets for 11, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma put on a 73-run partnership, but the pair broke down and the team fell apart. Hardik Pandya said after the match that chasing this total, they needed a good power play.

It's worth noting that Mumbai Indians lost three wickets for just 11 runs. Quinton de Kock was dismissed for seven, and Danish Malewar and Naman Dheer failed to open their accounts. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma then shared a 73-run partnership. This partnership broke at 84, and then all the remaining wickets fell within 20 runs, leaving Mumbai Indians all out for 104.
Apart from Suryakumar (36) and Tilak Varma (37), no other Mumbai Indians batsman reached double figures. Hardik Pandya was dismissed for 1, Sherfane Rutherford for 0 and Shardul Thakur for 6.
