In a significant political development, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Friday announced his resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party and said he would be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The move comes days after his public fallout with the party following his removal as deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha. Addressing a press conference alongside Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, Chadha said that a majority of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs had decided to merge with the BJP.

"We have decided that we, the 2/3rd members belonging to the AAP in Rajya Sabha, exercise the provisions of the Constitution of India and merge ourselves with the BJP," Chadha said.

Other leaders, including Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Swati Maliwal, and Vikram Sahney, are also expected to join the BJP.

‘AAP Is Not the Same Party Anymore’: Chadha

Chadha expressed deep disappointment with the party, stating that he had nurtured AAP with dedication.

"I have watered this party with my blood and sweat. I was a founding member and perhaps know the party better than most. But AAP is no longer the same. I had distanced myself from its activities for the past year because I could not align with its wrongdoings," he said.

Sandeep Pathak Announces Exit

Sandeep Pathak also confirmed his decision to part ways with AAP, calling it an emotional moment.

"I never imagined I would see this day, but it has come. I entered politics with the aim of serving the nation. Every decision I made was keeping the party above everything else, and I worked with complete honesty. However, from today, my path is different," he said.

The development marks a major setback for the AAP leadership and could have significant implications for its position in Parliament.
