Lawrence Of Punjab Controversy: Lawrence of Punjab has been embroiled in controversies even before its release. Government has now taken a big decision regarding this documentary series based on the life of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has advised OTT platform ZEE5 not to release this series. It is being told that this step has been taken after concerns were expressed regarding law and order.

Punjab Police expressed concern

According to reports, Punjab Police had expressed apprehension that the release of this series could affect public order. For this reason the ministry took this decision as a precautionary measure.

The matter reached the High Court

The matter also reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding this issue. Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Waring had demanded a ban on the series. Later, after the intervention of the Central Government, action was taken on this.

The family also expressed objection

Lawrence Bishnoi’s family has also opposed this series. His cousin said that this series has been made without the permission of the family, which is wrong.

Release was to be on 27th April

This docu series was scheduled to release on 27 April. According to the makers, Lawrence Bishnoi’s life has been shown as a ‘case study’, but due to the controversy, its release has been put on hold for the time being.

It is noteworthy that Lawrence Bishnoi’s name has already appeared in many serious cases. In such a situation, the controversy regarding this series has increased even more.
