Rajya Sabha MPs Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Ashok Mittal formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday, shortly after announcing their resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party.
The leaders were inducted into the BJP in the presence of party chief Nitin Nabin at the party headquarters in Delhi. They were welcomed with bouquets and greeted by senior BJP leaders, with Nabin also offering them sweets on the occasion.
Earlier in the day, Chadha announced that he, along with six other AAP MPs, had decided to quit the party—founded in 2012 on an anti-corruption platform—and merge with the BJP.
The development significantly weakens AAP’s strength in the Rajya Sabha, leaving the party with just three members in the Upper House.
