A court in Scotland has sentenced Kashif Anwar to 20 years in prison for a heinous act against his pregnant wife. The chilling words spoken by his wife moments before her death played a crucial role in bringing him to justice. Let's delve into the details of this tragic event that unfolded on Arthur's Seat.

Kashif Anwar chose the picturesque Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, a popular tourist destination, to commit his crime. He took his 17-week pregnant wife there under the pretense of enjoying a meal and watching the sunset. Once at the top, he verbally abused her and then pushed her off the cliff, believing he could escape his marital obligations.

The court heard that Anwar was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years for his actions. The couple, Kashif Anwar and Fauzia Javed, had recently married, with Fauzia being a lawyer. Their relationship began at an eyewear store, leading to a family-arranged marriage on December 25, 2020.

Following their wedding, Anwar's abusive behavior became apparent. Fauzia confided in her mother about her desire to leave the relationship, but soon discovered she was pregnant. Despite this, Anwar's mistreatment continued. On September 1, 2021, they traveled to Edinburgh for a holiday, where his abusive conduct persisted.

Fauzia had resolved to end her marriage upon returning home, but tragically, this holiday would be her last. Anwar pushed her off Arthur's Seat, where she fell approximately 15 meters and became stuck on the rocks below, suffering severe injuries.

A passerby, Dania Rafiq, noticed Fauzia and called for help. Despite her injuries, Fauzia cried out, warning others to keep Anwar away, stating he was responsible for her fall. She was deeply concerned for her unborn child.

When police arrived, Fauzia recounted the events leading to her fall, explaining that Anwar had assaulted her after she expressed her intention to leave him. Tragically, before the authorities could assist her, she suffered a heart attack and died while still trapped.

Anwar attempted to fabricate a story in court, claiming that the couple was merely enjoying their holiday and that he had not pushed her. He alleged that he lost his balance and fell onto her, causing her to tumble down the cliff.

However, testimonies from Fauzia's mother, the police officer, and the witness who first saw her after the fall painted a different picture. The court found Anwar guilty, sentencing him to a minimum of 20 years in prison.
