Delhi NCR Heatwave Alert, 25 April 2026: The national capital Delhi is currently in the grip of intense heat and severe heatwave. The heat is such that silence has started spreading on the streets in the afternoon. The hot winds coming from the desert areas of Thar and Balochistan have scorched Delhi. On Friday, the temperature in the Ridge area of Delhi was recorded at 43.1°C, which was the hottest day so far this season. Torture of heatwave: Delhi 4 degrees hotter than normal. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung Observatory was 41.9°C, which is 4.2°C more than normal. The situation is worse in areas like Lodhi Road and Ridge, where the temperature remains about 5 degrees above normal. Meteorologists say that due to clear sky and lack of moisture in the air, the situation of ‘heatwave’ has become more serious. The winds blowing at a speed of 10 to 20 km per hour are scorching the body like hot gusts instead of providing relief. Pollution has increased the problem: AQI reached ‘poor’ category. Along with the scorching heat, Delhi’s air is also becoming poisonous. Due to dusty hot winds, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has been recorded at 226, which falls in the ‘poor’ category. In some areas, this figure has crossed 300, posing a double challenge for respiratory patients and the elderly. Experts have advised not to leave the house unnecessarily between 12 noon and 4 pm. Relief news: There will be heavy rain next week! There is also a good news for the people of Delhi amidst the scorching heat. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation is forming over Rajasthan and Pakistan around April 26. Along with this, a new Western Disturbance is going to become active. According to Skymet Weather, there may be cloudy sky and light rain with thunderstorms in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR at the beginning of next week. After Sunday, due to change in weather patterns, the temperature is likely to drop by 3 to 4 degrees, which can provide a big relief from the heat wave.
