A political remark by a Republican candidate in the United States has drawn attention after he mocked Kash Patel and questioned his competence during a campaign appearance. The comment, which referenced Indian food, has triggered reactions online.

James Fishback, who is contesting for governor in Florida, made the remark in a speech where he criticised Patel’s ability as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A video clip of the speech was shared on X by commentator Richard Hanania.

In the clip, Fishback says: “I wouldn't trust him to investigate what happened to my DoorDash last night. And to be fair to him, it was Indian food.”

Remark comes amid scrutiny of FBI Director

The comments come at a time when Patel is facing political criticism following a report by The Atlantic. The publication alleged issues including drinking and missed meetings.

Patel has denied the allegations and said he will file a $250 million defamation lawsuit against the magazine. The Atlantic has stood by its report and has not issued an apology.

The developments also come amid broader changes in the administration, with several high-profile figures removed from government roles, including Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem.

Fishback, born in 1995 in Davie, Florida, is a hedge fund manager and a first-time political candidate. He attended Georgetown University but did not graduate. He later worked at Greenlight Capital from 2021 to 2023 before founding Azoria Partners, where he serves as chief executive officer and chief investment officer.
