World Malaria Day 2026: Every year on April 25, ‘World Malaria Day’ is celebrated across the world. The main purpose of this day is not only to tell about the disease, but to increase public awareness about its dangers, prevention and proper treatment. This campaign started by the World Health Organization (WHO) has now taken the form of a global movement.

Know the history of this day

World Malaria Day was established in 2007 by the World Health Assembly. Earlier it was known as ‘Africa Malaria Day’. The day provides a platform for governments and health organizations to come up with a common strategy to eradicate a deadly disease like malaria.

What is the theme of the year 2026?

This year’s official theme is: “Motivated to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”
This theme conveys a clear message that in today’s era we have advanced technology, effective vaccines and ample resources. Therefore, there is no room for delay in eradicating malaria now.

Simple and effective recipes for survival

Malaria is spread by mosquito bites, so prevention is the best treatment:

  • Do not allow water to accumulate: Do not allow water to collect in or around your home, as standing water breeds mosquitoes.
  • Use of mosquito nets: Always use a mosquito net while sleeping at night.
  • Wear full clothes: Wear full-sleeved clothes in the evening and use mosquito repellent creams.
  • Do not ignore the symptoms: If you experience high fever, chills or weakness, seek medical attention immediately.

According to experts, malaria can be completely cured with timely diagnosis and proper treatment. Awareness is our strongest weapon against this disease.
