Hyderabad: K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, on Saturday announced the launch of her own political party, naming it Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS).
This comes after the former MP was suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), her father’s party, due to alleged anti-party activities.
She made the announcement at an event on the outskirts of Hyderabad. During her address, she criticised her former party, BRS, saying Telangana had “lost its soul” under its current direction and that she felt ashamed of the party over certain issues.
Reports had claimed tensions had escalated after she publicly accused senior leaders including T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Kumar of damaging her father’s reputation in connection with the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project controversy.
The launch of Telangana Rashtra Sena revives the old TRS acronym once associated with KCR’s original Telangana Rashtra Samithi before it was renamed BRS in 2022 as part of a national expansion plan.
