New Delhi: Fans will be allowed to attend the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 final after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a request from franchise owners. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the PM has “graciously approved” fans’ attendance for the 2026 final on May 3 in Lahore.
Spectators were not allowed in the PSL due to the fuel crisis in Pakistan, which led the government to restrict the movement of the public in the country. PCB chairman explained the reason behind the decision and said that the PM has requested all of Pakistan to restrict their movement because of the fuel crisis, due to which they can’t have 30,000 fans in the stadium for PSL matches every day.
“We decided that as long as this crisis is ongoing, we will not have crowds at matches. This was a difficult decision, but it needed to be made. The opening ceremony will also be cancelled,” Naqvi said before the start of the season. The tournament was also reduced from six venues to two (Karachi and Lahore) as part of these measures.
The PCB had also announced that the board will try to compensate the eight franchises by paying them the estimated gate money at the already announced venues — Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Multan.
But Mohsin Naqvi, who is also an interior minister in the Pakistan Government, informed on social media that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the request to allow fans inside the stadium for the PSL 2026 final.
Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, Islamabad United qualify for PSL 2026 playoffs
Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United are the three franchises that have qualified for the PSL 2026 playoffs so far. Lahore Qalandars, Hyderabad Kingsmen, and Karachi Kings (KAR) are competing for the last place in the playoffs.
All three sides have eight points each, and one of them will qualify for the next round. Rawalpindiz are already knocked out of the race for the top four.
