Udupi: The body of a missing lecturer was found in a well inside a house compound on Saturday, raising suspicion of suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Ganapathi Bhat (55), a native of Sirsi. He was unmarried and working as a lecturer at a college in Udupi.
Police said he was staying in a rented house near MGM College in the city. A missing person complaint had earlier been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station.
The body was recovered from the well with the help of the fire and emergency services team. Police officials, including Sub-Inspector Narayana and staff, carried out further legal procedures at the spot.
The body was later shifted to the district hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination with assistance from local volunteers.
