In reply, Virat Kohli (81) and Devdutt Padikkal (55) played match-winning innings for RCB. Both of them kept the run pace fast in the middle overs and put the team in a strong position. RCB team has now reached number 2 in the points table.
After the match, GT captain Shubman Gill clearly explained the reason for the defeat. He said that between the 16th and 19th overs the team could not hit a single boundary, which became the turning point of the match.
Gill also admitted that the team failed to take wickets after the powerplay, which gave RCB a chance to make a comeback in the match. He said that he could not maintain the correct length consistently in his bowling, which was necessary on this wicket.
The biggest turning point came when Kohli was caught at 0. Gill admitted that such occasions change the course of the match and the team had to pay the price for it. Referring to the bowling of Krunal Pandya, he said that his slow balls were gaining hold on the pitch, hence an attempt was made to take wickets by taking risks, but was not successful.
What did Gill say on Sai Sudarshan’s performance?
On Sai Sudarshan’s performance, Gill said that he was disappointed with the way he got out in the last few matches, but he made a great comeback in this match. Also said jokingly that in the next match he will have to give a little more strikes in the powerplay. With this win, RCB showed that aggressive batting in the middle overs and taking advantage of opportunities makes the real difference in T20 cricket.
