Match 35 of IPL 2026 saw KL Rahul rip apart PBKS as DC posted an impressive 264/2. Rahul hit only the third score of over 150 in IPL history and it was the 1st time in 13 years that anyone has done it. The other two were Brendon McCullum (158*) in 2008 and Chris Gayle (175*) in 2013. It’s the highest IPL score by an Indian.
KL Rahul Tops the Charts for IndiaRahul slammed 152 not out in 67 balls with 16 fours and nine sixes. It was carnage at its best as he carted the bowlers all over the place. This is till date the highest score by an Indian in the history of the IPL. But Rahul achieved two distinctions through his innings. One he will be proud of and the other he will hope he does not hold for wrong.

It’s the 1st time any Indian player has breached the 150-run mark in an innings in the IPL. The previous best was 141 not out by Abhishek Sharma. Rahul entered uncharted territory as he played at a different level altogether. Now that is something to be proud of.
Unwanted Record for KL RahulThe dubious distinction that Rahul achieved is that his 152 not out is the highest score in a losing cause in the IPL. Yes, PBKS chased down their target of 265 in 18.4 overs with six wickets in hand. They broke their own record for the highest successful IPL run chase which they had earlier achieved vs KKR in 2024. They remain the only ones to chase down two scores of over 250 in IPL history. Rahul will hope he does not hold this unwanted record for too long.

Thanks to this innings, Rahul is now 2nd on the list of highest run-scorers in IPL 2026. He’s made 357 runs at an average of 59.50 and strike rate of 187.89. With 34 games left in the league phase, he’s a top contender for the Orange Cap.
Can DC Win Maiden IPL Title?DC are in 6th place on the points table with three wins and four losses in seven games. They have never won the title and have played just one final in 2020. DC’s next game is vs RCB on April 27. All 10 teams still have a shot at the four Playoffs spots, so it’s wide open at the half-way mark.
