New Delhi. Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, the Government of India has taken a big and strategic step to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG. Despite uncertainty in the global energy market, the government has made it clear that there will be no shortage of gas in the country.

In fact, Indian oil companies have now started buying LPG from the spot market in addition to traditional long-term agreements. This means that gas is being purchased at current market rates for immediate delivery when needed, so that there is no impact on the supply chain.

Big plan to maintain supply

According to the report, the government has increased LPG imports from many new countries including America. While earlier most of India’s gas came from Gulf countries, now supplies are also being taken from America, Russia, Norway, Canada and African countries. The purpose of this step is to reduce dependence on any one sector and share the risk.

Domestic production also increased

Along with imports, domestic production of LPG has also been increased in the country. According to statistics, India consumes around 80,000 tonnes of LPG daily, out of which a major share is being met by domestic production. In recent times it has been further strengthened by increasing production.

Why was this decision necessary?

Due to tension in West Asia, there is a possibility of impact on important sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz. This is why India has made preparations in advance and booked additional LPG cargoes, which will reach the country in the coming months.

good news to consumers

The general public will get the biggest benefit from this step of the government. Despite the global crisis, the supply of LPG will remain normal and people will not have to face any shortage or problem. This strategy of the government shows that India is fully prepared to secure its energy needs even in the changing global situation.
