Lucknow, Read: The match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be played on Sunday at Ekana Stadium. Both the teams are at the bottom of the points table, with LSG at ninth and KKR at tenth. The hopes of the playoffs are almost over, so this match will be about saving credibility and both the teams will go with the intention of winning.
LSG is under pressure from consecutive defeats at home. The team has lost seven matches here since last season, while this season too it has faced defeat in three matches. Captain Rishabh Pant will have the responsibility of managing the team as well as playing big innings. In batting, except Mitchell Marsh (210 runs in 7 matches), other players have not lived up to the expectations. Nicholas Pooran’s poor performance remains a matter of concern for the team.
The fast attack has performed better in bowling. Prince Yadav has been impressive with 13 wickets in 7 matches, while Mohammed Shami has also made useful contributions. However, the spin department has not performed as per expectations.
On the other hand, KKR team is also struggling. The bats of captain Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh have been silent so far, while the bowling has also lacked edge. Varun Chakraborty has proved to be expensive.
There have been 7 matches between the two teams in IPL history, out of which LSG has won 5 and KKR has won 2. Lucknow had defeated Kolkata in the last match of this season also.
