New Delhi. Liver is an important part of the body which continuously works to keep the body clean, balance digestion and handle essential nutrients. It works non-stop, but when there is continuous pressure on it, its efficiency gradually starts decreasing. Often people believe that only alcohol causes liver damage, but in reality there are many daily routine things which are weakening the liver without making any noise.
The biggest change in modern lifestyle is being seen in eating habits. The consumption of processed food available in packets has increased rapidly. These food items certainly taste delicious, but the excessive amounts of salt, sugar, preservatives and bad fats present in them have a direct effect on the liver. Continuous consumption increases inflammation in the body and the liver gradually starts moving towards a condition like fatty liver.
Apart from this, consuming excessive amounts of sweets can also prove dangerous for the liver. Excess sugar enters the body and gets converted into fat and starts accumulating in the liver. Over time this condition affects liver function and can cause many serious diseases. This damage happens gradually, so it is difficult to detect in the beginning.
Supplements taken in the name of fitness and health can sometimes put pressure on the liver. Consuming too much protein or supplements without proper information forces the liver to do extra work. When the body receives more nutrients than it needs, the liver may be unable to process them, affecting its health.
Food fried in oil and junk food are also considered harmful for the liver. Foods like pizza, burgers, chow mein and French fries are high in trans fats and refined oils. These enter the body and put pressure on the digestive system and slow down the cleansing process of the liver. Continuous consumption of these can increase toxins in the liver.
Along with this, frequent use of painkillers can also become a serious problem. Many people take painkillers without advice even in mild pain, which directly affects the liver. Excessive consumption of these medicines can affect the natural functioning of the liver and cause harm in the long run.
