Lucknow managed just 1 run, which came off Rishabh Pant’s bat. The target of 2 runs never bothered the three-time champions, and vice-captain Rinku Singh completed the task with a boundary on the first delivery of the Super Over.
Earlier, Rinku scored 83 runs off 51 balls and took five catches in the contest. His batting effort took Kolkata to 155 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohsin Khan took five wickets for the Knight Riders.
Chasing 156, Pant (42 off 38), Markram (31 off 27), Ayush Badoni (24 off 19), Himmat Singh (19 off 10) and Shami (11* off 6) took the total to 155 for 8.
Varun Chakravarthy and Vaibhav Arora dismissed two batters each for the visiting side at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
It was KKR’s second win of the 19th season of the tournament, and the team has moved up to eighth spot in the standings.
