New Delhi: BSA has launched the new Scrambler 650 in India, expanding its line-up after the Gold Star 650. The new motorcycle enters the growing middleweight segment and takes on rivals such as the Royal Enfield Bear 650. It brings a retro scrambler design and is aimed at riders looking for a larger-capacity bike with a mix of performance and classic styling.

The 650 cc motorcycle segment has been growing in India, with more buyers looking at bigger and more powerful bikes. In this space, the new BSA Scrambler 650 goes up against the Royal EnfieldBear 650. Here’s a look at how they compare.

BSA Scrambler 650

The BSA Scrambler 650 gets three colour options, with Raven Black, Victor Yellow and Thunder Grey, with prices ranging from Rs 3,24,950 to Rs 3,40,950 (ex-showroom).

Meanwhile, the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is offered in five shades, including Boardwalk White, Petrol Green, Wild Honey, Golden Shadow and Two Four Nine. In terms of pricing the Bear 650 is available at starting price of Rs 3,75,393 to Rs 3,97,538 (ex-showroom), making it more expensive than the BSA.

The BSA Scrambler 650 uses a 652 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, paired with a five-speed gearbox. It produces 44.5 bhp and 55 Nm of torque. This is the same engine seen in the BSA Gold Star 650, with focus on strong low- and mid-range performance.

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 gets a 648 cc twin-cylinder engine linked to a six-speed gearbox. It makes 46.75 bhp and 56.5 Nm. On paper, the Bear 650 has a slight edge in both power and torque, while also offering an extra gear. Buyers may ultimately choose based on whether they prefer BSA’s single-cylinder character or Royal Enfield’s twin-cylinder setup.
