digital desk- The brutal murder of a girl that took place recently in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh has created an uproar in the politics of the state. Now on this sensitive issue, the main opposition parties Samajwadi Party and Congress have opened a front against the Yogi government. National President of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has made serious allegations against the government and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the victim’s family.
Daughters are most unsafe under BJP rule– Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav fiercely attacked the BJP government during the press conference in Lucknow. He said that Uttar Pradesh has today become the most unsafe state in the country for women and daughters. Citing statistics, Akhilesh said, “Ever since the formation of the BJP government in UP, incidents of atrocities on sisters and daughters have reached a record level. BJP people hold rallies in the name of women empowerment, but their silence on what happened to the daughter of Ghazipur is shameful.”
Akhilesh angry at stopping the delegation
Akhilesh Yadav expressed strong displeasure over stopping representatives of opposition parties from meeting the victim’s family in Ghazipur. He alleged that his workers and leaders were ill-treated at the behest of the government. Akhilesh said, “BJP does not want us to stand with ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minority). Our people are not being allowed to meet the victim’s family, but we are not afraid.” The SP chief announced that on Tuesday another high level delegation of SP will go to Ghazipur, which will include local MLA and Rita Vishwakarma. According to sources, Akhilesh Yadav himself can reach Ghazipur to meet the victim’s family on April 29.
Questions raised on investigation and postmortem report
Akhilesh Yadav raised questions on the circumstances of the incident site and said that where the daughter’s body was found, there was only two feet of water, hence the possibility of drowning is not acceptable. He said, “If the family has doubts about the postmortem report, then why doesn’t the government conduct a re-investigation? BJP ministers are going there, but instead of accepting the truth, they are trying to cover up.” Along with the Ghazipur incident, Akhilesh Yadav also cornered the government on the economic front. He predicted that the prices of diesel and petrol in the country will be increased sharply as soon as the voting for the last phase of West Bengal Assembly elections is over on April 29. He cautioned the public that BJP pretends to provide relief only till the elections.
