Anand Mahindra praises Nishant Dev’s Las Vegas win
Indian boxing is slowly finding a place in the professional global circuit, and a new name is beginning to stand out in that space. Nishant Dev, who has been building his career fight by fight, is now drawing attention not just for his wins but also for the way he is getting them. His recent performance in Las Vegas has once again put him in the spotlight, and this time even industry leaders have taken note. Anand Mahindra shared a message praising the young boxer’s unbeaten run and his growing presence in the sport.

Posting on X, Mahindra pointed out the manner in which Dev has been handling his opponents. He said there is a “quiet and almost clinical authority” in the way the boxer has been dominating inside the ring. He added that if this path continues, India could be witnessing the rise of its next serious contender on the international boxing stage.

He also noted that tougher challenges are ahead but expressed confidence in the support Dev will continue to receive, saying the boxer “will hear us cheering.”

Sixth straight win in Las Vegas

The appreciation came after Dev secured his sixth consecutive win in the professional circuit. Fighting in Las Vegas, he registered a second-round stoppage victory over Juan Carlos Guerra Jr. The bout, scheduled as an eight-round contest, ended early as Dev’s steady pressure proved too much.

Guerra entered the fight with experience and a reputation for pulling off surprises, but Dev controlled the pace from the start. Using a southpaw stance, he relied on his jab to maintain distance and slowly pushed his opponent back.

Calm approach stands out

Rather than rushing into exchanges, Dev kept things measured. He built his attacks step by step, mixing shots to the head and body. A sharp combination led to a knockdown, and from there the momentum stayed with him.

Even in that moment, he did not look hurried. He continued to pick his punches with care, which eventually forced the referee to step in during the second round. The finish came through sustained pressure, not a single punch.

There were also signs of adaptability. Reports suggested he may have felt discomfort in his right hand during the fight, but he adjusted without losing control and kept dictating the action.

Dev, a 2024 Olympian and 2023 World Championship bronze medalist, turned professional in 2025 after signing with Matchroom Boxing under Eddie Hearn. Since then, his record has moved to 6-0, with four knockouts.
