A dust storm has disrupted the Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash on Monday.
Strong winds were blowing across the stadium after Buvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood swept away DC's top and middle order. The umpires continued the game even in low visibility.
The Delhi Capitals asked the umpires to halt the game, however, the on-field umpires refused and they were forced to play amid dust blowing in the stadium and also low visibility.
Abhishek Porel was also hit in the eye as a dust particle went into his eyes. Wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma was seen blowing air through his mouth into his eyes to remove the particle as it was hurting him.
Devdutt Padikkal also joined Jitesh in helping Abhishek to get rid of the dust particle and the pain he was going through. They removed the dust particle after which Purel started batting again amid strong winds.
There were papers and dust blowing all over the stadium due to the strong winds. However, the dust storm has settled in and the game continues as normal.
Delhi Capitals are struggling as they lost record six wickets in their Powerplay after scoring only 13 runs. They have had the most destructive Powerplay in the history of IPL ever.
