Approximately 50,000 adjustable dumbbell sets have been recalled, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This follows more than 100 user complaints about the faulty equipment.
The dumbbells affected are FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select Adjustable Dumbbells model 8361, with serial numbers KK23288361 through KK23388361 and KK207608361 through KK21347836. These dumbbells adjust from 5 to 52.5 pounds, in 2.5- or 5-pound increments.
The recalled exercise equipment was sold at Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from January 2024 through November 2024 for about $100. The CPSC writes that there have been more than 115 reports of “weight plates dislodging during use, with at least six injuries, including broken toes, bruises, contusions and lacerations.”
If you have the recalled dumbbells, the company is urging consumers to immediately stop use and contact Tzumi Electronics for a free replacement of the dumbbell and tray.
