Dum Dum (West Bengal): On the last day of West Bengal election campaign, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath completely painted the election atmosphere in Dumdum in saffron colour. Even the fire raining from the sky and the scorching sun could not dampen the enthusiasm of the people of Bengal. As soon as the convoy of ‘Bulldozer Baba’ came out on the streets, the entire Dumdum echoed with slogans of “Yogi-Yogi”. People were seen standing on rooftops and windows to get a glimpse of the Chief Minister.
Welcomed with rain of flowers and blowing of conch shells
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a mega road-show in support of BJP candidate Arijit Bakshi from Dumdum assembly seat. During this, supporters carrying saffron flags raised deafening shouts of ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Bulldozer Baba Zindabad’. Amidst the sounds of drums and conch shells, people showered flowers on CM Yogi. On the stages set up on the way, small children were seen dressed as Lord Ram, Mother Sita and Lakshman, who attracted everyone’s attention. Women dressed in traditional costumes also gave a warm welcome to Yogi Adityanath.
“The rest is played, upgradation begins”: Yogi lashed out at Mamata government
CM Yogi, who was elated after seeing the crowd gathered during the road show, started his address with chants of ‘Jai Maa Kali’ and ‘Har Har Mahadev’. Making a scathing attack on Mamata Banerjee’s government, he said that TMC has become another name for terror, mafia raj and corruption in Bengal. Yogi said, “The time has come to uproot the party which played with the future of the youth of Bengal and stopped development.” Referring to the first phase of voting, he said that now the ‘game’ is about to end and a new beginning of development is about to begin.
Double engine government promise
The Chief Minister assured the people of Bengal that if the double engine government of BJP comes to power in the state, a new story of development will be written. He said that now the time has come to get rid of TMC which is committing robbery on the rights of the citizens of Bengal. The kind of public support shown in Yogi’s road show has increased the heartbeat of his opponents. Only one voice was heard in the entire Dum Dum that this time change is certain.
