Jakarta – The death toll from a horrific train accident on the outskirts of Indonesia’s capital Jakarta has increased to 14. Bobby Rasidin, chief executive officer of state railway company PT Kereta AP Indonesia, confirmed this on Tuesday. After this accident, relief and rescue work is going on continuously.
How did the accident happen?
The accident happened on Monday at Bekasi Timur station, a busy train station on the outskirts of Jakarta. A long distance train hit the rear carriage of a commuter train parked at the station. The collision was so severe that the coaches suffered heavy damage and many passengers got trapped. There was chaos on the spot after the accident, and relief workers took out the injured and sent them to nearby hospitals.
Although the exact number of injured has not been revealed yet, it is clear that many people have been seriously injured in this accident.
Relief work continues
After the accident, rescue workers and emergency teams reached the spot and sent the injured to the hospital. All the bodies have been sent to the hospital for identification and other formalities.
