Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has slammed the decision-making of Lucknow Super Giants after a string of failures in the IPL 2026. His statement came after LSG was slumped to the bottom of the table after losing a Super Over to Kolkata Knight Riders in Lucknow.
LSG has just managed two wins in 8 games this seaso and the defeat on Sunday was their fifth loss on a trot. Despite failing numerous times while chasing the captain Rishabh Pant again won the toss and opted to field, which didn't go down well with Sehwag.
Questions raised on Team Strategy
Sehwag didn't shy away from criticising the head coach the Director of cricket as well as the advisor of the LSG team.
Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
"Lucknow Super Giants yet again failed to chase down a score in this IPL. I can't understand what they are doing. Director of cricket and coach is there advisor Kane Williamson, Justin Langer, Tom Moody is there as director of cricket. I don't know is that their mind? They are not able to see what team is performing? Team is not batting well. Still they win the toss and say KKR to bat."
The first innings saw KKR batting first which managed 155 for 7 thanks to Rinku Singh's incredible 83 runs. For the LSG Mohsin Khan had a brilliant outing as he picked up 5 wickets in 4 overs for 23 runs.

Super Over Collapse Deepens Trouble
In reply LSG were tottering at 128 for 6 in 18 overs. However Mohammad Shami scored 21 in the next two overs to tie the game and force it into a Super Over.
The Super Over went completely against the LSG as Narine sent both Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram back to the pavilion cheaply. The LSG ended up with a target that was easy to chase for KKR. Rinku Singh smashed the winning boundary on the very first ball.
Sehwag was quick to ask about the thinking of the decision makers in this game:
"Had they won the toss and decided to bat, then it would have been 140-150 on the board at least and pressure would have been on KKR. I cannot understand this. We are unable to chase, but we have a desire to chase. It is stupid or what? Who are these people making decisions?"
LSG had previously lost games to Delhi Capitals,Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals while chasing the score and now another loss to KKR. Pressure would be on Pant and the team management to make some quick changes.
