Aldi has released a fresh update for customers who regularly shop at the budget supermarket. The retailer is the fourth-largest supermarket chain in the UK, with more than 1,080 stores nationwide, making it a firm favourite among British shoppers. It has also retained its crown as the UK's cheapest supermarket for the fifth year running, according to research conducted by consumer group Which?.

With the early May bank holiday just around the corner, countless Brits will already be making plans to make the most of the extended weekend. For many households, this will mean getting ahead with the weekly food shop, particularly with the Met Office predicting an unsettled bank holiday period, which could see many choosing to remain at home and make use of existing supplies.

Over the weekend, the Met Office is forecasting a changeable weather pattern across the country, with a mixture of showers and sunny spells. Deputy Chief Forecaster Tom Crabtree said: "Into the Bank Holiday weekend, the weather looks more changeable, with showers at times - particularly in the north - but also some sunnier intervals."

To help Britons prepare for both the unpredictable weather and any bank holiday plans they may have in store, Aldi has published its opening hours between May 1 and 4 in a new customer update. The supermarket has also revealed the quietest periods for shoppers wishing to avoid the crowds.

Customers looking to shop during the quietest periods are recommended to visit Aldi between 8am and 9am. The retailer also suggests that late evening, from 7pm to 10pm, offers another peaceful window for completing the weekly shop.

For weekend trading hours, Aldi confirms it will operate from 8am to 10pm on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2. On Sunday, May 3, doors will open at 10am and close at 4pm, reports the Mirror.

On bank holiday Monday, May 4, Aldi branches will trade from 8am until 8pm. Shoppers are encouraged to verify their local store timings online in case of any differences.

Rachel Geary, Communications Director at Aldi UK, states the chain has "made it easy" for shoppers to obtain everything required to maximise the extended weekend. She said: "Bank holiday weekends are a great opportunity to get together with family and friends and enjoy delicious food.

"Whether that's hosting a garden get-together or heading off on a trip with plenty of snacks in tow. At Aldi, we've made it easy for shoppers to pick up everything they need at unbeatable value, so they can focus on making the most of the long weekend."

In separate Aldi developments, the supermarket is reintroducing its hugely popular Gas Pizza Oven priced at £69.99. The Gas Pizza Oven, alongside additional BBQ essentials, will be available in branches from April 30 as part of the chain's Outdoor Dining collection.

Aldi says: "The compact addition to the humble BBQ features a ceramic pizza stone and an integrated thermometer, helping ensure every slice is cooked to perfection. Plus, with a speedy 10-minute cook time, chefs will be serving crispy, restaurant-quality 12-inch pizzas in no time. Even better, shoppers can save a sizzling."
