The World Snooker Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield is into its second week, with the quarter-finals taking centre stage. The tournament has already seen some big exits.

Seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan fell at the second round in an epic clash with John Higgins. Four-time champion Mark Selby was beaten by upcoming Chinese star Wu Yize.

There's been some incredible pots and safety play over the last eight days, as well as shows of frustration. And that looks set to continue as the tournament progresses.

Here's the latest news from the Crucible over the last 24 hours...

Selby complaint

Mark Selby wasn't happy with the playing conditions following his second-round defeat to Wu Yize. The Four-time world champion fell to a 13-11 loss on Monday and was clearly frustrated throughout the match.

Speaking to the BBC after, Selby said: "I felt like I only played well really in the first session. I played good in the first session, then after that I just missed ball-after-ball.

"Wu's long game was good, I felt like his safety was good but neither of us really scored that well. Just too many silly errors really.

"Whether it was a lapse in concentration, I am not sure, I felt like the conditions were atrocious really in both matches. The cushions were really bouncing, the tale got re-covered last night and I felt like it played no better than the other sessions.

"That is no excuse, I still missed silly balls and didn't deserve to win, really."

Neil Robertson has demanded that the chalk used by Ronnie O'Sullivan be banned from the sport, describing it as c**p.

The Australian faces John Higgins in the quarter-final, after the Scotsman beat O'Sullivan in a thrilling match on Monday. Robertson booked his place thanks to a win over Chris Wakelin.

Speaking about the chalk, Robertson said: "Oh Jesus, ban that c**p, please. All the players hate it, it just destroys the game.

"You get kicks, you get bounces, not only that, it makes an absolute mess of the table. I know he's good friends with Damien Hirst, but it's like he's doing artwork with the chalk all over the cloth. I don't think he does it to kind of put off anyone, he's not that way inclined at all, but it's not great."

Neil Robertson fine

Staying with Robertson, the 44-year-old is on the brink of an eye-watering fine after a mathematical error.

He miscalculated the score and conceded a frame he still could have won during his first-round match against Pang Janxu. It led to him being warned by the referee and handed a £250 fine.

However, the Metro claims that due to other unrelated fines earlier in the season, Robertson will actually have to pay £2000. That fee could rise to £10,000 should he make another error.
